Stainless steel gate valve is a device used to control the direction, pressure and flow of fluid in the fluid system. The material of stainless steel gate valve is an alloy composed of iron, chromium, carbon and many different elements. Iron is the main component element, and chromium is the main alloying element.

Generally speaking, the chromium content must account for at least 11% to be called a stainless steel gate valve. Because if the chromium content is insufficient, the dense chromium oxide protective film will not be formed on the surface of the stainless steel gate valve, and the anti-rust (corrosion) function will be lost. If the chromium content is sufficient, it will not rust in the normal temperature atmosphere.

The stainless steel gate valves that are often seen at ordinary times have casting and forging valve bodies, such as: casting CF8 (forging F304), casting CF8M (forging F316), casting CF3 (forging F304L), casting CF3M (forging F316L).

Common Stainless Steel Gate Valve Material:

1. Ferritic stainless steel gate valve: 12%-30% chromium. Its corrosion resistance, toughness and weldability increase with the increase of chromium content, and its resistance to chloride stress corrosion is better than other types of stainless steel gate valves.

2. Austenitic stainless steel gate valve: containing more than 18% chromium, about 8% nickel and a small amount of molybdenum, titanium, nitrogen and other elements. Good overall performance, resistant to corrosion by various media.

3. Austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel gate valve: It has the advantages of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steel gate valves, and has superplasticity.

4. Martensitic stainless steel gate valve: high strength, but poor plasticity and weldability.
