Ball Valve
The Difference between O-type Ball Valves and V-type Ball Valves
2023-07-19

There are many types of structures for ball valves, mainly composed of valve seats, balls, sealing rings, valve stems, and other driving devices. It is used on pipelines to shut off, distribute, adjust flow rates, and change the flow direction of the medium.

O-type Ball Valves

The body of the O-ring ball valve is equipped with a ball with an intermediate through hole inside, and there is a through hole with a diameter equal to the pipe diameter on the ball. The sphere can rotate in the sealing seat, and there are circular elastomers on both sides of the pipeline direction to achieve sealing. By rotating the ball by 90 °, the direction of the through-hole can be changed, thereby achieving the opening and closing of the ball valve.

The O-type ball valve adopts a floating or fixed design, and the relative moving parts are made of self-lubricating materials with minimal friction coefficient, resulting in low operating torque. In addition, the long-term sealing of sealed lubricating grease makes operation more flexible, with the advantages of low fluid resistance, convenient and fast switching, good sealing performance, long service life, and high reliability.

V-type Ball Valves

The V-type ball valve core has a V-shaped structure, and the valve core has a V-shaped notch. It has the characteristics of large circulation capacity, large adjustable range, shear force, and can be tightly closed. It is particularly suitable for fluid materials with fibrous structures. Generally, V-type ball valves are single sealed ball valves. It is not suitable for bidirectional use.

During the rotation of the ball, the V-type blade of the ball is tangent to the valve seat, thereby cutting off fibers and solid substances in the fluid without being stuck by the fibers. Ordinary ball valves do not have this function.

V-type ball valve is a right angle rotary structure that can achieve flow regulation. Different degrees of proportionality can be achieved based on the V-type angle of the V-type sphere. V-type ball valves are generally used in conjunction with valve actuators and positioners to achieve proportional adjustment. The V-type valve core is most suitable for various adjustment occasions, with advantages such as high rated flow coefficient, large adjustable ratio, good sealing effect, zero sensitivity in adjustment performance, and small volume.
