Working Principle and Maintenance of Ball Valve in Urban Heating System

With the rapid development of science and technology, the continuous improvement of production processes and product structures, ball valves have been increasingly applied in thermal systems in recent years. It has the advantages of no fluid resistance, light weight, zero leakage sealing performance, fast opening and closing switch, no medium erosion on the sealing surface, and long service life.


Working Principle

1. Floating Ball Structure: The ball of a floating ball valve can float inside the valve body. Under the pressure of the fluid medium, the ball is tightly pressed onto the outlet section sealing valve seat, forming a single seal with good sealing performance on one side.

2. Fixed ball structure: The fixed ball structure has an upper and lower rotation axis, with bearings embedded in the lower part of the ball, fixed by the lower valve stem, and connected to the upper valve stem. The ball can only rotate along the vertical axis of the valve channel. When a fixed ball valve is working, the pressure of the fluid in front of the valve is transmitted to the valve seat, and the valve seat produces displacement under the action of pressure, tightly pressing the ball to achieve sealing.


Maintenance

1. Use the correct method to load and unload the valve to avoid mechanical damage. When lifting the valve, the lifting strap should not be tied to the valve stem or actuator, otherwise it may cause the valve stem to bend, the valve stem seal to fail, and the turbine case to be damaged.

2. Before the valve leaves the factory, blind plates or covers should be installed at both ends of the valve to prevent water, sand, and other impurities from entering the valve chamber during transportation and construction site, causing damage and corrosion to the seal.

3. At the construction site, valves should be placed neatly and should not be randomly placed, otherwise it may cause the valve drain valve or grease injection valve to break and be damaged.

4. Before welding the fully welded ball valve, it should be confirmed that the valve is welded in the fully open position to avoid welding splashes causing damage to the ball and scratching the sealing surface.

5. After completing the hydraulic test, the water in the valve chamber should be drained clean to prevent rust and icing.
