Difference

A safety valve is a special valve in which the opening and closing parts are in a normally closed state under external force. When the pressure of the medium in the equipment or pipeline increases beyond the specified value, the medium is discharged outside the system to prevent the pressure of the medium in the pipeline or equipment from exceeding the specified value. Safety valves belong to the category of automatic valves, mainly used in boilers, pressure vessels, and pipelines. They control the pressure to not exceed the specified value and play an important protective role in personal safety and equipment operation. The injection safety valve must undergo a pressure test before use.

A pressure reducing valve is a valve that reduces the inlet pressure to a desired outlet pressure by adjusting it, and relies on the energy of the medium itself to automatically maintain a stable outlet pressure. From the perspective of fluid mechanics, the pressure reducing valve is a throttling component with variable local resistance. By changing the throttling area, changing the flow rate and the kinetic energy of the fluid, pressure loss is caused to achieve the purpose of pressure reduction. Then, depending on the adjustment of the control and regulation system, the fluctuation of the pressure behind the valve is balanced with the spring force phase equilibrium so that the pressure behind the valve remains constant within a certain error range.

Main Function

The safety valve plays a safety protection role in the system. When the system pressure exceeds the specified value, the safety valve opens to discharge some of the gas (fluid) in the system into the atmosphere (pipeline), so that the system pressure does not exceed the allowable value, ensuring that the system will not experience accidents due to excessive pressure.

The working principle of a pressure reducing valve is to reduce the water pressure by the local resistance of the flow channel inside the valve to the water flow. The range of water pressure drop is automatically adjusted by the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the membrane connecting the valve disc or the piston on both sides. The principle of proportional pressure reduction is to use the water pressure ratio of the floating piston in the valve body to control, and the pressure reduction ratio at the inlet and outlet ends is inversely proportional to the piston area ratio at the inlet and outlet sides. The pressure reducing valve works stably without vibration, and there are no springs inside the valve body, no signs of spring corrosion or metal fatigue failure. The sealing performance is good, and it does not affect water flow while reducing pressure.
