The opening and closing part of the gate valve is the wedge, and the movement direction of the wedge is perpendicular to the direction of the fluid. The gate valve can only be fully opened and fully closed, and is not suitable for adjustment and throttling. Most gate valves are forcibly sealed, that is, when the valve is closed, the wedge must be forced against the valve seat by external force to ensure the tightness of the sealing surface.

Gate valve has the following advantages:

1. The fluid resistance is small, and the sealing surface is less eroded and eroded by the medium.

2. Opening and closing is more labor-saving.

3. The flow direction of the medium is not restricted, the flow is not disturbed, and the pressure is not reduced.

4. Simple shape, short structure length, good manufacturing process and wide application range.

Globe valve refers to a valve in which the closing part (disc) moves along the centerline of the valve seat. Due to the relatively short opening or closing stroke of the valve stem and a very reliable shut-off function, this type of valve is ideal for shut-off or regulation and throttling.

Selection principle:

1. Globe valve should be selected on the pipeline or device of high temperature and high pressure medium. Such as high temperature and high pressure pipelines in thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, and petrochemical systems.

2. Globe valve should be used on pipelines where the requirements for flow resistance are not strict (that is, the pressure loss is not considered very much).
