Soft seal gate valves are usually used as industrial valves. The deformation compensation function is generated by the overall rubber coating of the gate, which achieves good sealing effect, overcomes the problems of poor sealing, water leakage and rust of general gate valves, saves installation space more effectively.

Advantages of Soft Seal Gate Valve:

(1)  Low fluid resistance

The medium channel inside the valve body is direct, the medium does not change its flow direction when flowing through the gate valve, so the fluid resistance is small.

(2)  Small opening and closing torque

When the gate valve is opened and closed, the movement direction of the gate valve is perpendicular to the medium flow direction, so the opening and closing is labor-saving.

(3) Unrestricted medium flow direction;

(4) Short structure length

The wedge of the gate valve is vertically placed in the valve body, so the structural length is relatively short.

(5) Good sealing performance

When fully opened, the sealing surface is less eroded by the working medium.

(6) Simple shape and good casting technology.

Disadvantages of Soft Seal Gate Valve:

(1)  Sealing surface is easy to be damaged

During opening and closing, there is relative friction between the two sealing surfaces of the wedge and the valve seat, which is easy to damage and affect the sealing performance and service life.

(2)  Long opening and closing time and high size

The gate valve should be fully opened or closed. The wedge has a large stroke, so the gate valve needs a certain space to open; The overall dimension is high, so the installation space is large.

(3)  Complex structure

Gate valves generally have two sealing surfaces, which makes it difficult to process, grind and maintain. There are many parts, the manufacturing and maintenance costs are high.
